Mmm... That Smells Good

Have you ever walked into a house when chocolate cookies are in the oven? Even if you're in a bad mood, you quickly relax and smile. Aromatherapy has been around for thousands of years and is one of the techniques taught in Aspen Massage Institute's programs. Our courses ensure AMI students excel is massage therapy techniques and all spa fundamentals.

What is Aromatherapy?

Aromatherapy is more than just setting the mood in the massage room or making your home smell nice, it can also be part of the homeopathic healing process. Scientific experiments have shown that certain scents can trigger responses in emotions, physical conditions and our healing capabilities. Skilled massage therapists utilize this information to help their clients have a better experience and to help promote healing.

What are the Benefits?

  • Stress Relief: one of the most common uses of essential oils is for relieving stress. Oils such as lavender, lemon and peppermint are known as relaxants and are known for their calming effects and for reducing anxiety.
  • Increase Energy Levels: clove, tea tree, jasmine, cinnamon, sage, and rosemary are known for their ability to help boost energy levels and are much better for you than other stimulants such as caffeine.
  • Healing: another positive affect of essential oils is using the stimulant properties to promote increased blood flow and healing. Rosehip, lavender, buckthorn and calendula are commonly used for these purposes.
