Are You an Entrepreneur?

I’m surrounded by entrepreneurs. They come into Aspen Massage Institute every day. They are from many walks of lives and different parts of the world. The people I meet have worked in a wide variety of jobs, had horrible and great bosses, and are the epitome of diversity. Some have families, some are young women and men ready to make their mark on the world. All have one thing in common, they are tired of settling for someone else's dream.

Who is an Entrepreneur?

The Webster Dictionary defines entrepreneur as: “one who organizes, manages, and assumes the risks of a business or enterprise”

I don’t know if I’ve ever seen a worse explanation of what an entrepreneur is in my life! The ones I know do much more than just "organize, manage and assume risk." They innovate, inspire others, work hard, create jobs, instill hope, and lead people to take a chance instead of doing what’s easy. They change lives, starting with their own.

These are people who bravely step forward when others stay back. They see the future, focus on their dreams, and then make them happen. Yes, they take risks, but they also know the payoff is greater. They live to do great things and are not controlled by fear. They are heroes.

  

My Favorite Entrepreneurs

My favorite entrepreneurs aren’t the owners of large corporations, tech giants, or sports stars. They are the women and men who come in our doors with the passion and determination to change their future. Aspen Massage Institute was started to provide a pathway for people who wanted to do something more with their lives than just have a job. It’s not about “what” you want to be when you grow up, it’s about “Who” you want to be when you grow up.

The people who have graduated from our Massage Therapist Program didn’t come in with any special abilities or medical knowledge. They were servers, stay at home parents, mechanics, and everything in between. Ordinary people who have made a commitment to do what they love. I’m continually humbled and amazed by their work ethic and commitment to succeed. I’m continually proud of who they have become today.

Improved Lives

They have all improved their lives. Whether they have started their own small massage therapy business, work part-time to supplement their income, or have found employment with a spa that allows them to help people in a job they truly love. These graduates are entrepreneurs because they have taken the risk to become who they wanted to become and now use their skills to do what they want to do and all those around them benefit.
