Meet Our Grads: Kerry Weber

We’re highlighting each our recent grads as they begin their careers as massage therapists after passing the Massage & Bodywork Licensing Examination (MBLEx). Stay tuned as we meet each one.

Kerry Weber found herself looking for a change after a ski accident left her unable to work for a month. She realized that she wasn’t fulfilled in her current job. “I have always had a passion for helping people as well as for studying the human body,” she said. “It was perfect timing that AMI was beginning a class in a few weeks—I applied for a loan with my bank and enrolled!”

Reflecting on her time at AMI, Kerry said she most enjoyed having several teachers with different perspectives and techniques. “It taught me to become a critical thinker with my massage and to understand why a therapist might make different decisions in different scenarios,” she said.

Although she admits it was sometimes frustrating to face conflicting opinions during the program, she realized that “every aspect of massage therapy is what you make of it, and the more points of view you have to inform each decision you make, the better prepared you are to handle anything that work (and life, for that matter!) can throw at you.”

Kerry will be available for booking at Jean-Robert’s Gym this season and plans to let her practice grow organically. After this season, she’ll be leaving the country to travel for several months and says that she’ll focus more on her private practice when she returns. “Massage therapy is about surrendering to a life of flow and I seek to embody that quality with my practice, while still maintaining professionalism, punctuality, and living up to any commitment I choose to make.”
